Walking in the Now

Trying out a walking meditation from Tich Naht Hahn. As you walk, repeat rhythmically ‘I have arrived’ (in the now); ‘I’m home’. My thoughts suggested this wouldn’t work – after all, if I’m repeating stuff in my mind, I’m not walking in the present. Decided to follow the suggestion in my book (!!) – don’t accept or reject anything, just try it out. It was amazing! Trees, flowers, grass, birds suddenly leapt into clear view – the colours, shapes, sun glittering on the leaves. And there was no labelling in the mind…. Why not give it a go and report back here?

I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and have spent most of my life here doing the usual things - marrying, having children and caring for an array of pets ranging from dogs to silkworms and chameleons.
